Sometimes, I get into a really good mood and spend the day drawing. I was really inspired by a spread Liu Wen did awhile back. I always say this, but I really will try to do drawings on a more regular basis.
My dearest friend Sihem who lives in Paris just had her first bebe and I’m looking forward to visiting her later this month. It’s profound and exciting. I’ve missed Paris and I can’t wait to bite into the first French baguette I see. So this is for you my crazy French friend and for all the slightly off English phrases you make up, like, “I’m suffering”.

I’m feeling a bit under the weather today but still wanted to write a little about these photos. I’ve visited Taiwan a handful of times, starting from when I was 7 or 8 until the last time when I was 17. My visits were always heavily chaperoned, even when I was 17 I was never allowed to wander on my own. So, my idea of Taiwan and what it had to offer was always seen through a filter. Only in the last year have I started to see this other side of Taiwan. There are Indie Taiwanese bands, high fashion kids and Artists there. What a concept. For me, Taipei was full of regional fashion and recycled American pop songs. And it got me to thinking about when this all started and where.
Don’t get me wrong. I love Taiwan. It stirs something in me that I can’t begin to describe. It’s nostalgic, exotic and overwhelming. No matter how many times I visit, it’s like being in another universe. But I never could imagine what kind of person I would be if I had grown up there. And now, well, I think maybe I wouldn’t be so different.
Photos from the Facehunter blog and how lovely to see Taipei through his eyes.

The other night M. made potato gnocchi with olive, caper and marinara sauce. He made it pretty fast too and I was surprised you could make gnocchi from scratch that quickly. But it’s simple. Boil up 2-3 medium sized potatoes, pull them out just before they’re cooked through and blend them up with a hand mixer (or mash em up by hand) add 1/3 flour to 2/3 potato and roll them into 1” ovals. Boil them and once they rise to the top (it takes less then a minute) they’re done.
Sometimes when Berlin feels particularly grungy we go to the Gallery Lafayette. There’s the famous one in Paris, but it’s fun to pretend we’re there. They have the prettiest grocery store, a Boulangerie and a Patisserie. While we there Barbie dropped by.

From the top:
The Derby Cap, Fringe Wrap, Sandalwood Wedges, Shag Sweater, Cheetah Coat, Mononoke Fur Flap Hat, Granpa Vest Top.
To be posted through out the week starting Monday. I found a ton of fun coats and warm cover-ups. The Cheetah Print Coat is pretty drool worthy, it’s got that over the top bulkiness that I think is so chic. The wedges are also pretty insane, they’re about 4” but feel like you’re wearing slippers.

These are way overdue, but I saw these photos sitting in my folder and remembered that I never posted anything about the lovely birthday I had a few weeks ago. M’s mom made the yummiest Eastern style food, I say Eastern because in a way she made her own kind of cuisine out of Middle Eastern, Asian and Indian elements like Tahini, Sesame and Indian Curries. It was divine. And yes that is me in total dork mode with a Nintendo.

I thought I’d show you guys some goods I have my eye on. All items are from Etsy and everything is vintage.( If you guys would like to see a more exhaustive list of Etsy vintage sellers let me know and I can compile a list.) Right now I’m on the hunt for capes and preppy flats. And aren’t the salmon shorts just adorable? Even though it’s already chilly in Berlin I think they would still work with tights.

Loving this spread with Ali Stephens, she looks out of this world in the last photo. (And the fact that she’s got a pretend Asian bf is pretty hot too).

What I wore to go run errands and to meet M. at the metro stop. I’m always unsure how to loop my headphones. Behind the neck? Under the Jacket? And no one else seems to be changing and shuffling songs as much as I do when I’m walking. Anyways, I was really wanting to mix and match the bright salmon color top with the dark red jacket with a bold print. I’m trying to be more colorful this winter, no more all black. My hair is also growing at an insane rate and I’m thinking of new ideas.
