We had a great time in Paris and are now back in Berlin for a few days before we head out again to Atlanta for the holidays. Our trip was amazing, Paris was as beautiful as we remembered and I finally got to go to the Louvre! We spent 5 months in Paris last year and I never went. We spent the rest of the week walking around the different districts and eating French pastries. The best part though was seeing my friend and her new cute baby and it was sad to say goodbye. Now I’m busy packing up vintage things that sold over the week and sending them out. I’m excited to see my family and to spend Christmas in the states! I’m still trying to figure out what to do with the Etsy shop since I’ll be away for 3 weeks but I’m most likely going to take a few things with me and have a mini-shop in Atlanta, so keep an eye out for that! Hope you guys are doing well wherever you are!
There are a bunch of photos on my Flickr.
Hi guys! I’m off to Paris for the week and am so excited! I’m going to eat lots of baguettes, croissants and macarons. It’s my first official holiday trip in awhile. Usually when we move around we’re either working or going somewhere to do something so it’s nice to be able to relax and just enjoy ourselves this time. I’ll be taking lots of pictures and hopefully have some time to post some during the week! See you soon!

Stills from the movie “Who are you, Polly Maggoo”. I love her hair and make up. One day I’ll wear tons of eye make up and draw on my eyelashes.

Early in the week we went for a walk around our neighborhood. Truth be told, I am more a house cat than anything and especially when the weather gets cold, I like to hang out in bed. But home life is much different then outside life and Neukölln (the borough that we live in ) can be little rough around the edges. It’s not all pretty and there’s a lot change that this area is going through, with the airport that closed last year there is suddenly a huge expanse of empty space which soon will be turned into a park and commercial space. I’m still wrapping my head around the idea of Berlin and it’s history. With the anniversary of the falling of the wall, I’ve been reading more about what life was like here just two short decades ago. There’s a lot to uncover and sometimes, I feel like there’s an invisible city that I can’t see.
There’s a great walking path beside the old airport that we took and of course lots of graffiti. On our way back we stopped by the Turkish market and I totally regret not taking photos there. Later M. made pizza topped with wild rucola, no small feat considering it was gluten free.
Outfit: Wool Cape from Etsy, Beanie from Etsy, Uo leggings, Converse, Uo fingerless gloves

Sometimes, I get into a really good mood and spend the day drawing. I was really inspired by a spread Liu Wen did awhile back. I always say this, but I really will try to do drawings on a more regular basis.
My dearest friend Sihem who lives in Paris just had her first bebe and I’m looking forward to visiting her later this month. It’s profound and exciting. I’ve missed Paris and I can’t wait to bite into the first French baguette I see. So this is for you my crazy French friend and for all the slightly off English phrases you make up, like, “I’m suffering”.

I’m feeling a bit under the weather today but still wanted to write a little about these photos. I’ve visited Taiwan a handful of times, starting from when I was 7 or 8 until the last time when I was 17. My visits were always heavily chaperoned, even when I was 17 I was never allowed to wander on my own. So, my idea of Taiwan and what it had to offer was always seen through a filter. Only in the last year have I started to see this other side of Taiwan. There are Indie Taiwanese bands, high fashion kids and Artists there. What a concept. For me, Taipei was full of regional fashion and recycled American pop songs. And it got me to thinking about when this all started and where.
Don’t get me wrong. I love Taiwan. It stirs something in me that I can’t begin to describe. It’s nostalgic, exotic and overwhelming. No matter how many times I visit, it’s like being in another universe. But I never could imagine what kind of person I would be if I had grown up there. And now, well, I think maybe I wouldn’t be so different.
Photos from the Facehunter blog and how lovely to see Taipei through his eyes.

The other night M. made potato gnocchi with olive, caper and marinara sauce. He made it pretty fast too and I was surprised you could make gnocchi from scratch that quickly. But it’s simple. Boil up 2-3 medium sized potatoes, pull them out just before they’re cooked through and blend them up with a hand mixer (or mash em up by hand) add 1/3 flour to 2/3 potato and roll them into 1” ovals. Boil them and once they rise to the top (it takes less then a minute) they’re done.
Sometimes when Berlin feels particularly grungy we go to the Gallery Lafayette. There’s the famous one in Paris, but it’s fun to pretend we’re there. They have the prettiest grocery store, a Boulangerie and a Patisserie. While we there Barbie dropped by.

From the top: The Derby Cap, Fringe Wrap, Sandalwood Wedges, Shag Sweater, Cheetah Coat, Mononoke Fur Flap Hat, Granpa Vest Top.
To be posted through out the week starting Monday. I found a ton of fun coats and warm cover-ups. The Cheetah Print Coat is pretty drool worthy, it’s got that over the top bulkiness that I think is so chic. The wedges are also pretty insane, they’re about 4” but feel like you’re wearing slippers.

These are way overdue, but I saw these photos sitting in my folder and remembered that I never posted anything about the lovely birthday I had a few weeks ago. M’s mom made the yummiest Eastern style food, I say Eastern because in a way she made her own kind of cuisine out of Middle Eastern, Asian and Indian elements like Tahini, Sesame and Indian Curries. It was divine. And yes that is me in total dork mode with a Nintendo.

I thought I’d show you guys some goods I have my eye on. All items are from Etsy and everything is vintage.( If you guys would like to see a more exhaustive list of Etsy vintage sellers let me know and I can compile a list.) Right now I’m on the hunt for capes and preppy flats. And aren’t the salmon shorts just adorable? Even though it’s already chilly in Berlin I think they would still work with tights.
